Sea Scout Ship 468 is a coed, youth-led, high-adventure program of Scouting America for youth ages 14 through 20, or age 13 after completing eighth grade.
Based at Lakewood Yacht Club, we serve, lead, sail, and race in Galveston Bay and beyond.

Sea Scouts learn by doing. Our Scouts do more than ride on boats. They take the helm, work as a crew, make decisions, solve problems, and accept meaningful responsibility for the success and safety of their shipmates.
On the Water
On the Water
Learn keelboat sailing, racing, cruising, navigation, weather, docking, anchoring, vessel operations, and on-the-water safety. Our adventures also include canoeing, kayaking, camping, and other waterfront activities.
At the Helm
At the Helm
Ship 468 is youth-led. Scouts help choose and plan activities, lead meetings, teach developing crew members, and make real decisions. Adult leaders provide training, guidance, and appropriate safety guardrails.

Who Can Join?
Who Can Join?
Sea Scouts is a coed program of Scouting America.
Youth ages 14-20 are eligible to join as youth participants called Sea Scouts. Youth that are 13 may join only if they have already completed eighth grade. When Sea Scouts turn 21, they are welcome to continue their journey with the ship by becoming an adult leader.
All Sea Scout Ships rely on adult participation and support to make the program possible. Our incredible team of adult volunteers support Ship 468 in a variety of ways. Examples include serving on the ship's committee, working directly with the sea scouts to provide instruction and guidance, helping us take care of our fleet, supporting us on race days, assisting with our marketing/recruiting, and carpooling to ensure all sea scouts are able to attend ship events. We'd love to help you find the perfect spot for you on our team.
Previous sailing experience is not required for youth or adults. New members learn progressively, practice alongside experienced crew members, and take on greater responsibility as their skills and confidence grow.
The most important qualifications are curiosity, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work as part of a team.

Where We Meet
Where We Meet
Ship 468’s sailboats are berthed at Lakewood Yacht Club, where the Ship meets on Monday evenings at 7:30 p.m. (1930) during the school year. We meet earlier during summer months so we can enjoy a sail and watch the sun set.
Ship 468 serves Pearland, Clear Lake, and the surrounding Houston–Galveston Bay area. St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Pearland charters the Ship, which is part of the Bay Area Council, Scouting America.
Prospective Scouts and their families are welcome to visit. Please contact the Ship before attending so we can confirm the meeting location and planned activity.
